Summer!

The weather here in Indiana has been absolutely GORGEOUS!! Last week it was close to 90 so it was a little hot, but this weekend it was sunny, mid-70s, and there was even a slight breeze. I wish we had done more outside and made the most of it because summer goes way too fast. I am going to make a goal to get outside each and every nice day so that when Fall/Winter comes, I don't spend too much time complaining. :) I am hoping that this upcoming weekend brings us nice weather, and that our trip to North Carolina in 2 weeks brings us even better weather!

Brooke is really on the move these days! She crawls everywhere and pulls up on everything, and it is a bit scary! I am also amazed at how fast she gets places. The other day she was playing on her toy piano and I ran into our bedroom to grab something from the closet. I turn to leave and she is right behind me, giggling and crawling away! Her personality is really starting to shine through and she is becoming more and more fun. Side note: As I was typing this she crawled over to me with a big booger hanging out of her nose. We wiped it with a tissue and then curled up in the glider for a bit to watch Sesame Street.... oh the life of a mom!

Such a happy girl!

Challenges

I am Day 4 into having TWO babies all day long, and I am surviving. Brooke is pretty good about playing by herself, and now that she can crawl, she loves to go from toy to toy. Mason sleeps for most of the day except when he needs to eat and his "play" time right after meals. The dilemma seems to be that whenever Mason is awake, Brooke suddenly has needs. She is whiny and screechy, trying to crawl up onto the glider or just sitting in the corner crying. Then, as soon as Mason falls asleep, she wants to play by herself. I am more than willing to sit on the floor and roll a ball to her, play patty-cake, and even blow raspberries on her belly... but NO... she wants nothing to do with me. Well, unless of course I am tending to Mason.

How will I ever have two children of my own!?

Father's Day

Sunday was Dustin's first Father's Day! Last week I had Brooke finger paint on a canvas for him, and then we started on a special picture project. I bought the letters 'D' and 'A' from Hobby Lobby and posed her with the letters. In the end, I printed them out in 5 x 7s and put them into a frame matted for three pictures. Thanks for being a wonderful father to Brooke, Dustin!

Here is Brooke painting the canvas.

Then on to the DAD photos...

Changes

Sorry it has been awhile since I posted, I don't know if I really have any excuses. Brooke is crawling now so she is all over the place! Thankfully, rather than crawling into the kitchen and pulling things out of cabinets, she is just traveling from toy to toy, playing up a storm. I know my time is coming soon, but for now I will enjoy her being "good" while crawling.

As for the change part of the blog. I am going to be watching a 2 month old baby in my home starting TODAY. In fact, he is here and happily asleep in the swing. This came up kind of suddenly last week but I am excited for this new opportunity! Brooke is enthralled with him and all his little movements but he does not notice her just yet. In a few months I'm sure they will be buddies.

I will post about our Father's Day tomorrow but right now I have to run!

Birthday/Trip to the Zoo

Friday was my 23rd birthday (I feel so much older) and Dustin and I got a much needed date! His parents came over to watch Brooke while we went to dinner and a movie. We saw Star Trek and it was an awesome movie! Dustin hates all things Star Trek and even he liked it. We haven't been out to the movie together since I was pregnant and it was nice to be out of the house together with out a baby.

She was so fidgety!

Jake wanted some attention as well

Yesterday we headed out to Chicago to go to the Brookfield Zoo. His cousin and I share the same birthday so a bunch of us went to "celebrate" the event. We dealt with rain and humidity for much of the morning, but the sun finally showed it's face after lunch time. Brooke just hung out in her stroller/baby carrier for most of the day, staring at all the different animals. A couple weeks ago I bought her a onesie with a zebra on it, so we decided it was her "zoo outfit", and I made a bow to match. I also wore pink and black, and had zebra print earrings and a zebra print bracelet.

Fun Weekend

As I said before, my parents were here the past few days. They arrived on Wednesday and spent Thursday and Friday helping us move the rest of our stuff from the old house AND clean it. Saturday our neighborhood had a garage sale so we spent the morning doing that, and then celebrated my birthday in the evening. My birthday is not until Friday but we figured we would do something since they were here! Sunday we went to church and then went out shopping! We were on the hunt for patio furniture and new clothes. We found a table and two nice chairs for our patio but came up empty with clothes. I am not giving up on my search for summer clothes but it may take me awhile.

Brooke is doing great. She crawls a little bit but has yet to master it. It will not be long before she takes off crawling at lightening speed, keeping me on my toes! We also had a weight check today since it has been a month since we starting formula. She weighed 15 pounds 14 ounces!! That is 2 pounds 11 ounces more than she weighed last month!!

Busy Week

This is going to be a really busy week so I apologize if I don't get the chance to update much! Today Sears is coming to take away the dud washer and dryer they brought us and then tomorrow Lowes is bringing our new ones!!

Wednesday my parents are coming in to town and will be here until Monday morning, so we are going to have a full house! I am hoping to have things more organized by the time my parents get here but we will see what happens. Here are some adorable pictures of Brooke to hold you over!

I love her lip!

So happy!
