Why I am Weird

I thought this might make for some interesting reading...

[one] I like my lip gloss sticky. Like really sticky. Thank you E.L.F. for having some of the stickiest lip gloss I have yet to find, and for it only being a dollar!

[two] I pick at myself. If you know me in real life, you can probably attest to the fact that I am either picking at my eyebrow or my head. It stems from my compulsion [see next point] and I have found it impossible to stop. I have picked my eyebrows so bad that parts of them are bald, and I pick my head so much scabs form.

[three] I am compulsive. Being labeled compulsive is not the weird part, it is the things I do as a result of my compulsions. Dustin himself will tell you that I have improved greatly since we married. When we were in college I used to have to walk an even amount of steps in side walk squares, and I would go to great lengths to avoid cracks in the street. I would also touch things two times, and it has to be the same type of touch. If I accidentally used one more finger than before, or touched it to hard, I had to repeat that and then touch is the right way in the end. You think I'm crazy don't you? Now my compulsions consist of walking around an object the same way I did when I passed it the last time, my books have to be in mint condition or I'll go buy another copy, all the light switches have to be facing the same direction, and I have to double check the locks before bed time.

[four] I LOVE the shows on the Disney Channel. Right now the last season of Hannah Montana and the second season of Sonny with a Chance are on my Netflix Watch Instantly. Go ahead, make fun of me!

[five] I paint my nails all.the.time. I will put on a polish and then the next night remove it and repaint in another color. Sometimes I barely have time to enjoy it before moving on to something new. I am not sure why I do it, I think I just like the process. Dustin thinks we are going to die from the fumes.

Picture with Santa

Sometime last week I decided that this past weekend I was going to attempt a picture with Santa. we didn't do one with Brooke the Christmas before but I really wanted one with the girls together while they were young. Saturday we had a Santa test run at Dustin's company Christmas party. When Brooke went up to get her gift from Santa she leaned into Dustin and refused to go near him. Later she told me that "Santa is scarwy". The next day I decided to give it a go anyway. We got up to the Santa in our mall and there were no lines, and no one already getting their picture taken. The man dressed as Santa leaned forward with some reindeer bells and asked Brooke if she wanted to see them. She slowly walked about to touch the bells and then quickly made friends with Santa. I think it helped that she got to know him before taking a picture with him.

Check out this goofball smile...

Five Question Friday

I wanted to do both this and Y3W, so you all get a back to back blogging treat.

1. What's on the top of your holiday wish list and why?

Dustin and I are not really doing gifts this year. I did buy a few things for him on Black Friday, and for myself, and we just decided to enjoy watching the girls and our family members open their gifts. If I had to pick something that I REALLY want. It would probably be an external flash for my camera. This baby, the Canon Speedlite 430x...

ETA: I totally missed the "why" part when I wrote this. I want it to help improve my indoor pictures. I have a Lightscoop, which I love, but sometimes it just does not cut it. Especially since I cannot take vertical pictures with it.

2. What is your favorite Christmas gift from the past?

This is such a hard question! I should probably go with the Christmas that Dustin showed up on my doorstep and asked me to marry him. I'll never forget that Christmas. Oh, and maybe those few Christmas' when my dad stuck Eagles tickets in my stocking.

3. If you had life to do over, what would you be when you grow up?

I think I would take another shot at being a nurse.

4. When do you put your tree up?

Whenever we feel like it really. This year we put it up the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

5. What is your favorite holiday?

I would have to say Thanksgiving. I am a foodie.

Your Three Words

Molly Can Sit

I'll get more creative with these eventually, I promise. For now I rely on what I know and can do... pictures! And if I could manage to get Brooke to sit still for more than one picture a week, she would be featured more often.

O Christmas Tree

I put up almost all of our Christmas decorations before we left for Philly and as soon as we returned I was itching to put up the tree. In fact, our bags laid unpacked in our bedroom while Dustin made the numerous trips to the basement to bring up the tree, the ornaments, and our stockings. I LOVE putting up the Christmas tree. I love the hodge podge of Hallmark ornaments we have collected over the years, and I love that Brooke and Molly get to continue that tradition with us. Although with all the Target ornament sales I hit last year, we may need a second tree to fit them all!

Of course I took pictures of the event! Molly slept through it all [in fact she slept from 5pm to 5am that night] so I took a picture of her and Brooke in front of the tree together in the morning.

She handed Dustin the ornaments to put up high. I love the way she is look at him.

She did really well. She hasn't even touched the tree since!

She put up with the hat for one picture
