Molly's 1 Year Pictures

Happy 1st Birthday Molly Moo!

Our sweet little Molly Moo turned ONE today. Can you believe it? Time really does fly faster with the second baby. And the fact that Molly is one means that Brooke is coming up quickly on her third birthday. My babies are no longer babies! Molly is quite possibly going to be our last child, and there is something upsetting about watching her leave that baby stage knowing that there will probably never be another one in the house [that is ours].

This time last year I had already had Molly and was recovering in the hospital, probably receiving visitors. Oddly enough, it was raining on June 15th last year and it is raining again today. Something I remember. Today we are just relaxing and watching movies. I backed some cookies with pink sprinkles and tonight we'll have a birthday dinner with Dustin's family.

Molly is not walking yet, unlike Brooke who walked at 11 months, but she is talking up a storm! She had a pretty decent amount of words for a one year old; Mama, Dada, Papa, Breh [Brooke], Dog [sometimes she makes a G sound which might be Jake], What's this?, What's that?, Buh-bye, Ball.

Molly has started with this ridiculous laugh that almost sounds cynical, and it seems to happen when she is getting food that she finds particularly yummy, like Eggo chocolate chip waffles. She LOVES to climb. On everything. Just this afternoon she climbed up on the chair of her table, and then up on top of the actual table. She also likes to get up on Brooke's toddler bed and jump.

I am not sure of her stats yet, since I forgot to make her one year appointment until today and we have to wait a couple weeks for an opening. I do know she is already much taller than Brooke was at this year, but possibly thinner. So I'm interested to see how their stats match up!

Happy 11 Months Molly!

Our "last" monthday celebration. Technically I have a 12 month sticker for pictures but really she will be ONE YEAR OLD! I cannot believe we are already at this point. It feels like just yesterday that Brooke was turning one. I attempted some stat taking yesterday...

Weight: 20 pounds, give or take ;)
Height: 29 inches

Molly is definitely our talker and not our walker. Brooke was walking by this point but not saying much, but Molly is very vocal. She says Mama, Dada, Uh-oh, Ta-da, Che [cheese], Breh [Brooke], and I think she may say Dog, but that is up in the air. She loves to wave at people.

She loves to play "So big!" and claps her hands afterward. Molly is our little daredevil. She loves to be swung around and flipped upside down. She will even go down the slide by herself! Of course we have to catch her at the bottom but she scoots her little booty along at the top until she is soaring down in giggles.

Molly LOVES bathes. If she hears the bathtub turn on she will come crawling at lightening speed from anywhere in the house. I love hearing the sound of her thumping down the hall. She also likes to poke around in the fridge and freezer, so I have to be quick when getting things in and out. Molly also loves her big sister Brooke and they spend most of their day playing together, or at least Molly pretending to do what Brooke does. Brooke has been good about including her and sharing her toys... most days.

What a perfect way to celebrate my 400th post! Feel free to take a field trip back to my first ever post, my how things have changed.


Molly turned 10 months old on Friday and the pictures were a disaster, mainly because Molly had a cold and was miserable. You can even see it in her little red eyes. I planned to redo her pictures but wouldn't you know, she is still sick and passed it along to Brooke and I.

First I would like to share a video of a few of her tricks.



I cannot believe she is saying words! I know it isn't uncommon for babies to talk this early but Brooke didn't really utter much until she was about 13 months old, and even then it was just "dog". Molly will watch our mouths and try to repeat much of what we say to her.

Molly crawls at super speed now and is into everything. If you were to stop by my house unannounced you would probably ask if I had been a] ransacked by a burglar, b] a mini-tornado went through my family room. But if you know what's good for you, you won't say anything! She pulls up on almost anything but isn't taking steps yet. She hasn't even tried to stand on her own yet but I am sure she could. We'll have to get Brooke's push toy out of storage to see if she is interested.

Molly still has a major aversion to most foods, although she is getting braver in sampling them. The only night we got her to try some small pieces of chicken. The big thing is she feels like she needs to feed herself. Don't even think about trying to spoon feed her!

I haven't had a chance to measure or weigh her yet but I know that she is much taller than Brooke was at this age, but also skinnier. Oh my opposite babies.

Happy 9 Months Molly!

Molly turned 9 months on Tuesday [which was spent driving 12 hours in the van from Philly back to Indiana, that blog post is coming soon!] and we had her pediatrician appointment this morning. She is in the 25% for weight at 17lbs 11oz and 75% for height at 28.5 inches. Looks like our girl is going to be tall and skinny! She had a great check-up and all is well.

Molly is crawling all over the place now. She was doing an army crawl for awhile but finally figured out how to add those legs. Now she can boot scoot almost as fast as I walk, at least it seems that way when I put her in the family room and by the time I get out of the bathroom she has already torn apart half of Brooke's room.

She has one tooth. Yepp, just one. She has had it for a couple of weeks now and it doesn't appear that any more are joining it any time soon. Poor girl.

Molly has a mind of her own and will let you know when she isn't happy with you. She will scrunch her nose and yell at you if you have offended her in the past minute or so, and will continue to do this until she feels like forgiving you. It is actually kind of cute.

Dustin and I have decided that she is going to be taking her formula to Kindergarten in her thermos. The girl refuses to eat baby food and thinks puffs and mum mums are the most disgusting things ever. Perhaps she likes finer dining, we'll have to shoot for salmon and steak soon.

Happy 8 Months Molly!

First I want to say to myself, "Bad blogger... BAD". A plague called Rotavirus swept through our house last week and I am still picking up the pieces from soiled sheets and vomit ground into the carpet.

BUT our Miss. Molly Moo turned 8 months this week! I managed to wrangle her long enough to get some measurements and it turns out she is 17lbs exactly [according to our scale] and 27 inches long. She has also learned a new trick...

Doesn't she look so proud? Getting her down for a nap went from extremely easy to extremely hard because now all she wants to do is pull up. And then once she gets herself pulled up, she cannot figure out how to get down.

She is army crawling all over the place like a champ. Just this morning I was in our bedroom talking to Dustin and she came boot scootin' from the family room to find us. She cracks me up because when she finally gets to where she wants she lets out a scream that sort of reminds me of a velociraptor.

She hates baby food and I am starting to feel like she'll be taking her bottle of formula to Kindergarten. She is such a happy baby. She will crawl from toy to toy and room to room entertaining herself. She takes great naps and sleeps well at night.

Happy 7 Months Molly!

Molly turned 7 months on Saturday! I am not sure how much she weighs or how tall she is, but I'll get around to measuring her soon. She is wearing 6 months clothes and I think she is getting really close to breaking into the 9 month jammies. She is very content to sit on the floor and play with her toys all day long but it seems that as soon as dinner time rolls around, she wants to be held until bed time.

She likes to roll around the room to get places and seems to have no interest in crawling any time soon. She doesn't even get up on all fours yet, but that is just fine by me!

She babbles a lot, saying "Dadada" "Mamama" "Bababa" "Papapa."

She has had solids a few times since turning 6 months but she really doesn't get it so we haven't been adamant about giving them to her. It is amazing how lazy you can become with the second child!

She sleeps like a champ. When it is time for a nap or bed time all you have to do it lay her down and turn on her sea horse. She doesn't take a paci or suck her thumb, which will make our lives easier in the future.

Molly is such a joy and I love her sweet smiles. I could kiss her cheeks all day long. I think she is one of my favorite ages and Dustin and I are excited to watch her grow and develop.

More Molly

Today I took Molly to the Pediatrician for her 6 month checkup. She got a clean bill of health and three shots, which finished up the shot schedule for the first year!

Weight: 15 pounds
Height: 26 inches

For comparison, Brooke was 12lb 12oz and 25.5 inches long. But she had health issues.

I thought it would be fun to post some of her month pictures. They are coming from Facebook so they may not look as clear as they normally would...

Happy 6 Months Molly!

Molly Moo is 6 months old today! We can officially round her up to a year [thanks Ash ;)]. I love this age and if I could, I would freeze her here for just a few months. It is like they become a whole different person at this point. Molly can sit up on her own now which makes a big difference. She looks so much bigger and older to me, and it is nice for her to be able to sit and play with Brooke. Of course Brooke's idea of playing is taking toys from Molly, giving her boring ones, and then deciding she wants the boring ones too.

She babbles a lot and mainly just says "Ah da da da da" over and over again. She still doesn't have any teeth which amazes me because I think Brooke had 4-6 by this point! Her hair is finally starting to grow in and I was even able to get a bow in it yesterday. She also likes to scoot backwards around the room. She can't get up on her knees yet but that doesn't seem to stop her.

Tomorrow we will be starting the dreaded solids. I hated giving Brooke solids. We started early in hopes that it would help with her reflux but I gave up after a week and waited until she was 6 months old. We decided to wait with Molly until her 6 month check up, which happens to tomorrow. The Pediatrician told me I could give her solids at 5 months so I know I could start tonight, but I'll use any excuse to delay. Who knows, maybe I'll give it a try...

Happy 5 Months Molly!

Molly is 5 months old today! I made an attempt at some pictures this morning and a combination of a squirmy baby and bad lighting made it difficult. I think I got a cute one though. Let's take a look back at her previous month pictures [do you like my alternating sides? I didn't do that intentionally, I take pictures on both sides each session and pick the best one]...

Molly weighs 13lbs 8oz and is 25.5 inches long. To give you an idea of how different Brooke and Molly are turning out to be, Brooke weighed 13lbs 2oz and was 23.5 inches long. Let's do a picture comparison here too...

I'd say they look pretty different to me! There is something there that makes them similar, I just cannot pinpoint what it is yet.

Molly LOVES to be on her belly. As soon as you lay her down on the floor she rolls over and pushes up on her arms to look around the room. She also sleeps on her belly which is fine by me since I know she can roll around and has great head control. Her sleep patterns are random. We just recently started giving her a bottle of formula before bed to help fill her up more and I think it is working! When Brooke was Molly's age she had a lot of trouble gaining weight, so we decided this time around we would be proactive about supplementing around 4 months and on. Last night Molly slept from 9pm-5am, ate, and went back to bed until 8:30am. If she could do this consistently, I may start to feel normal again!

Molly isn't sitting up yet, but I know she has plenty of time to learn. She has no butt and skinny chicken legs so there isn't much to help balance her. She loves to grab at toys and will shake them and chew on them for hours. She also reaches out and touches faces. Her reflux has pretty much cleared up which is wonderful. She still spits up some but it is nothing compared to the first 4 months of her life. She loves her big sister and Brooke is the only one who can get her belly laughing at this point. And Molly's favorite past time is watching football. She likes to sit with her Papa and "yell" at the TV.
